Case Study

iVisual

iVisual is a digital content provider that services clients ranging from real estate offices to healthcare and the food industry.

Using an array of technologies, we developed a complete system for iVisual to offer their digital communication services to their customers who range from a variety of industries.

This project involved database development, creating a web interface for clients and admin control, automated website data trawling, API programming to connect and control software we developed and installed at client locations to drive audio and visual content.

Project requirements:

  • Client web interface with login credentials
  • Dedicated server with SQL database and full backup services
  • Client software to drive audio visual slideshows on client pc
  • API software to connect client software to iVisual server
  • Secure web admin control panel to manage system

Planning and Strategy

We worked closely with iVisual to plan out a strategy to create the solution they required.

Ideas, feasability and timings were discussed and planned as the start of the project.

Client web interface

iVisual clients are given a web interface to control their screens at as many locations as they have, manage slideshows and monitor their sites.

A secure username and password interface was created using the latest encryption techniques.

SQL Database

iVisual required a sophisticated databse to store all client data including locations, screens and screen settings, media, slideshows and a multitude of settings and options.

Client Control of Screens

A customer's ability to control their own screens was very important in the project. Using the web interface, clients are able to manage all their screens at multiple sites that they own and set slideshows, automatic updates, background colours, automatically switch screens off at prescribed hours as well as many more settings.

Live connectivity would show them the status of each screen at each location.

Client Creates Slideshows and Media

The web interface allows iVisual customers to upload and manage media, create slideshows with many display options, assign slideshows to screens and set timings to display.

For Real Estate customers, additional programming options were created such as automatic updates of property data from any data feed the customer required such as screen scraping or parsing client feeds. Customers could set the time they wished their inventory updated automatically without any further input required.

Admin control panel for iVisual

iVisual wanted an administration interface for their office so that they were able to monitor all client sites and receive warnings of any screens that went down so that they could assist if necessary. They wanted remote resets and updates as well as control of customer accounts.

Dedicated Server and Backup Services

We set up a dedicated server for iVisual in a renowned data center that we work with. The server was secured and set up with SSL certificates to secure communications.

We setup a daily automated backup service in the event of failure or hacking attacks.

Software Interface for Client Locations

Control of all media at iVisual customer sites required us to create software to drive one or multiple screens.

This sophisticated software needed to maintain a live link to the dedicated server and report on it's health, status and update itself if the server made a request.

It would download all media and slideshow data so that it can display whatever the customer wished and would do this as soon as the customer pressed the 'Publish' button on their web interface or at a set time that the customer could choose.

We designed this software to be invisible to the customer unless they wished to see it or manage it's settings, which were usually done by iVisual staff on an initial install.

API for Connectivity

Live connectivity and the ability to control remote sites at a press of a button required us to program some sophisticated API scripts.

Completed Solution

iVisual have been running a successful solution built from the ground up since 2021.

Netdyne Technologies support iVisual with regular software updates and ensure their server security is up to date.
